When a Fashion Brand Becomes an Interior You Can Step Into

Subtle femininity, balanced romanticism and conscious minimalism are the qualities that have defined Les Cherries collections for years. Thanks to the interior design by Małgorzata Liebhart and Ada Skwira, these same values have found a delicate architectural reflection in the brand’s new boutique in Warsaw. The designers from WZ Studio skillfully translated the brand’s aesthetic into the language of architecture — without literal references, but with a sense of proportion, materiality and atmosphere.

The Les Cherries boutique on Koszykowa Street is an intimate space where fashion meets architecture. Within a limited floor area, an interior was designed as a backdrop for the collections while simultaneously establishing a distinct identity of its own. Romantic minimalism, natural materials and carefully crafted details come together to form a space that is welcoming, calm, and memorable — exactly like the Les Cherries brand itself.

“The space was meant to feel inviting and friendly — one that does not create unnecessary distance, as fashion boutiques can sometimes build a barrier between the brand and the customer. Here, it was simply meant to feel pleasant. Clients should feel at ease and comfortable. It is also impossible not to mention the crucial role of the owner, who personally welcomes visitors and makes everyone feel truly special,” explain the architects from WZ Studio.

For this reason, as they emphasise, the key to the project’s success was… collaboration with the boutique owner.

“When it comes to working with the brand, we describe it as working directly with the owner, Joanna Biawo. We have known Joanna for years and have already completed a joint project — her apartment in Mokotów. We understand each other almost without words. She is an exceptional, energetic person, and we are truly happy to have worked together again,” the designers recall with a smile.
“Moreover, even before the boutique project began, we were already loyal clients of Les Cherries,” they add unanimously.

Details in the Leading Role

This interior, much like the brand it represents, does not require excess. It is built on refined forms, high-quality materials, and details that create atmosphere rather than spectacle.

“The interior was meant to reflect the aesthetics of romantic minimalism. Due to the small size of the space, we were able to express this character mainly through details. This is how the idea for an interesting ceiling emerged, enhanced with subtle, carefully designed elements. It is also important to remember that a boutique interior should be original and distinctive, while at the same time serving as a backdrop for the clothing collection,” explain the architects from WZ Studio.

Attention is drawn to the burgundy ceiling — a colour taken directly from the Les Cherries visual identity — combined with decorative plasterwork. Small ornamental ‘spheres’ also appear, the execution of which, as the designers note, was not among the easiest tasks. The ceiling becomes the key element of the boutique, while the remaining parts of the interior provide a calm, neutral background. Another distinctive detail is the custom-made hangers with a wavy form. Elements such as plaster mouldings, small spheres, delicate embellishments, and wave motifs subtly introduce a romantic note into the space.

“Honestly speaking, without the details — and there are quite a few of them here — the interior would lack a strong character. It would simply be ordinary. In small-scale projects, these little ‘design accents’ are what make a space charming and memorable,” – they add.

Quality Embedded in the DNA

The project is defined by a timeless colour palette, soft lines, and delicate accents referencing the brand’s collections, interpreted in a light and subtle way. The aim was to emphasise the naturalness and individuality of women who value comfort and elegance in their everyday lives. The brand consciously selects high-quality fabrics, natural fibres, and precise craftsmanship, ensuring that its collections are durable and resistant to fleeting seasonal trends. It is an offering for women who appreciate calm forms, authenticity, and clothing that builds style over time rather than delivering only a temporary effect.

“Les Cherries focuses on high-quality materials, choosing those that are as natural and human-friendly as possible. We approached the interior design in exactly the same way. That is why cheap, artificial substitutes imitating natural materials were never an option. The subdued colour palette and carefully selected materials build the brand’s visual identity within the interior. If the Les Cherries clothing brand were an interior, this is exactly how it would look.” – emphasise the architects.

Function in an Intimate Format

Although intimate in scale, the space features clearly defined zones. It includes a comfortable fitting room, a mirror area conducive to taking photos, and ergonomically arranged clothing racks. Additional space was allocated for accessories — handbags and eyewear displayed on shelves. Each element has its designated place, ensuring functionality, order, and ergonomic flow throughout the interior.

The greatest challenge was meeting functional requirements while preserving the boutique’s intimate character. The space was limited, yet it was necessary to accommodate clothing displays, a mirror, a counter, and an additional storage zone.

“The most challenging aspect was stock storage. Ultimately, we decided to design custom cabinetry beneath the clothing racks. Additional garments are stored in the drawers below. This solution allowed us to successfully combine functionality with the interior’s aesthetic,” reveal Małgorzata Liebhart and Ada Skwira.

To fully understand what sets this project apart, one simply has to visit the boutique and see for themselves that among beautiful garments lies an intimate interior filled with thoughtfully crafted ‘design nuances’. Undoubtedly, it stands out through its sense of calm combined with originality — precisely the qualities that define the Les Cherries brand.

“Many boutiques, driven by cost considerations, do not devote sufficient attention to design and detail, focusing primarily on profitability. In this case, budgetary common sense was, of course, maintained, but the priority was to create an original, refined space,” conclude the architects from WZ Studio.
