Where to Submit a Press Release in 2026

Writing a press release is only half the job. The other half is putting it somewhere the right journalist, editor or researcher can actually find it. In 2026, that rarely means sending the same attachment to hundreds of addresses and hoping for the best.

Start with publications that already cover your subject

The strongest place to submit a release is a publication whose editorial remit clearly matches the announcement. An architecture title may want a completed building, an interiors magazine may be interested in a new hospitality project, and a product design platform may prefer launches with excellent photography and a clear design story.

Before submitting, read several recent articles. Check whether the publication covers news, interviews, product launches, exhibitions or only longer features. Look for a public submissions page or editorial contact, then follow the requested format precisely.

Use specialist press rooms and directories

A searchable press room gives an announcement a permanent public URL. This is useful for journalists who discover a story after the initial launch, and for brands that need one organised place for copy, images, links and contact information.

Design Pressroom is built specifically for announcements from architecture, interiors, product, fashion, art and other creative businesses. A focused directory will usually be more relevant than a general press-release site because journalists can browse by subject instead of searching through unrelated corporate news.

Submit directly to design and creative media

Prioritise a small, well-researched list. International design platforms, national design magazines, trade publications, regional culture titles and carefully chosen newsletters can all be valuable. A smaller specialist publication may bring more relevant enquiries than a large general-interest site.

Do not ignore local media. A new studio, exhibition, award or public project often has a strong regional angle, especially when it involves local materials, makers, heritage or employment.

Consider paid distribution carefully

Newswire services can help with scale, investor-facing announcements or regulated company news. For an independent design brand, however, distribution is not the same as editorial coverage. Paying to place a release on many low-relevance websites rarely creates meaningful visibility.

If you use a paid service, ask where the release will appear, whether links are marked as sponsored, who receives it and what reporting is included. Treat distribution as infrastructure, not a guarantee that a journalist will write about the story.

Share it through your own channels

Publish the announcement in your website press area, link to it from LinkedIn, include it in a relevant newsletter and make it easy for collaborators to share. The page should remain live after social posts disappear from feeds.

A simple submission plan

  • Publish a complete release on your own site or a specialist press room.
  • Select ten to twenty genuinely relevant publications.
  • Send a short personalised pitch with a link to the full material.
  • Follow up once, politely, if the announcement is still timely.
  • Keep the release accessible for future research and round-ups.

The best submission strategy is not the one that produces the highest number of links. It is the one that makes a strong, relevant story easy for the right editor to use.
